Finite Element Analysis of the Test Handle of a COMBITEST Device:

Guide: Dr. Ananthasuresh G K and Manjunath H J;

  • Large scale Finite Element Analysis was carried out on a proprietary device called COMBITEST switch fromABBIndia Ltd.

  • Reduced-order lumped model was developed to capture the mechanical motions of the switch parts.

  • Design changes suggested to decrease/eliminate the interruption in the COMBITEST switch.

Design, Analysis, and Optimization Composite Shaft:

  • Multi-Objective Optimization of Composite shaft under combined loading is done using the Genetic Algorithm.

  • Analytical and Numerical methods are implemented. 

  • Axial Tension load increases and Compression load decreases the torsional stiffness of the shaft.

  • Efficient Mechanical APDL macro was written for simulating contact interaction.

  • MATLAB-ANSYS linked to reduce the manual efforts. 

  • Plastic strain change with regards to mesh, element type, contact type is studied.
